This essay is a personal statement written by the applicant therefore it helps the admission selection committee see the applicant’s unique style, voice, achievements, and personality. It is advised that applicants include their achievements.
- TRANSCRIPT: This is the high school transcript and result of the student. This will inform the school of the student’s intelligence level. The official high school transcript will tell if you meet the GPA requirement.

GPA requirement to get into Fordham University
Fordham University does not have a particularly fixed GPA score a student should have but, they expect that your GPA is high. We advise that you have a GPA score that ranges from 3.4 to 3.8 to put you on the consideration list. This is advised because there is no specification according to recent research and statistics. Maybe later in the coming years, there will be changes and maybe speculated GPA required by the school.
It is important to know that most university in the US and more specifically Fordham University does not have a standard score for the GPA to be submitted for your application. However, it is in the best interest of the applicant to use their instinct and make sure to have between some high levels of the range. Since Fordham University uses a 4.0 weighted GPA just like many other US schools, it is expected that you have a convincing range of scores to guarantee your admission.
With a GPA of 3.4, the Fordham university board of trustees expects that you will be one of the best in your class. Even if not the best, at least an average student with A’s and B’s in his/her high school results could push you to compete with some other applicants. If you are still in junior school with a GPA score below this average, we advise that you take advanced classes and extra AP classes. This will show that you can handle more difficult academics than the average high school student and put you on the consideration list.
The average GPA of students who are admitted to Fordham University is 3.5. So, this shows you that the school is very competitive, and having this prior idea of the documents to be submitted can be very helpful as an applicant.
SAT requirement to get into Fordham University
SAT is an important requirement at Fordham University. The school requires that you send in your SAT or ACT score as a document for consideration.
Section | 25th Percentile | 75th Percentile | Average SAT Score |
SAT Math | 600 | 730 | |
SAT reading | 650 | 700 | |
SAT Composite | 1250 | 1430 | 1340 |
Standardized testing is one of the mandatory requirements to gain admission into Fordham University and candidates applying to this school must know this beforehand. For any applicant to be considered for admission into the school, he or she must possess a good SAT score. On average, students admitted into Fordham University have an average SAT score of 1340. However, cases are that students who get lower than the average score can get admitted while students who get higher might in contrast be denied. The SAT scores assess a student’s ability in reading, writing, and mathematics and are made mandatory by the board of trustees and the admission selection committee at Fordham University. We advise applicants to have an average of 1250-1430 in their SAT exam as there is no specific score you should have to be considered for admission.
The average SAT score composite at Fordham University is 1340, on the SAT scale and the 25th percentile new SAT score is 1,250 while the 75th percentile SAT score is 1,430. An SAT score of 1250 places you below the average score of 1340 while a score of 1430 guarantees you a sit in the school.
Fordham University’s SAT score policy
Fordham University uses the superscore method and this puts students at a greater advantage if properly utilized. Superscore is known as the highest section scoring system and candidates must familiarize themselves with this policy. This policy implies that if your seat for more than one exam and you intend to submit the result of the exams, the result with the highest score section will be chosen by the board of trustees and the admission selection committee. This is the super-scoring policy.
Take for instance you had three test section scores, Say test 1, Test 2, and Test 3.
Section | SAT Reading + Writing | SAT Math | SAT Composite |
Test 1 | 600 | 550 | 1150 |
Test 2 | 500 | 650 | 1150 |
Test 3 | 700 | 500 | 1200 |
Superscore | 700 | 650 | 1350 |
Notice how the superscore was Calculated.
Test 3 under the SAT Reading and Writing section had the highest score out of all the three-test days for only SAT Reading + Writing, and hence, it is chosen as the super score.
Likewise, notice that Test 2 under the SAT math section had the highest score out of all the three test days for only SAT math, and hence, it is chosen as the superscore of the three days.
Now the superscore is a very important testing strategy that allows you to send any test multiple scores days with your application. However, Fordham University assists you to form your superscore, then picking the section with the highest scores, and then forming your total composite for you.
So if your current SAT score is below the required Fordham average of 1,340, then we recommend that you consider retaking the SAT exam till you are sure that you have met the required score.
ACT Requirement to Get into Fordham University
Fordham University advises that all applicants have an ACT score within the range of 27-32 as this is a good way to increase your admission possibility.
From data gathered from past applications and the number of successful students in the school, the larger percentage of students who successfully gained admission into the school and are students of the school already have an average ACT score of 29 either using the superscoring method or not, they were above the average score. The minimum score any student is advised to have is 27, it places you below the average it still gives you a shot at admission.
Having a score like 29 on your ACT gives you a higher advantage and a higher chance of gaining the admission you seek. However, a score of 32 or above 29 guarantees your seat in the school.
ACT Score Choice Policy
If at all you would submit your ACT instead of your SAT. You technically have an advantage over others who use SAT. I will explain why this is so.
Explanation: If you want to use ACT, you will have full control over the exact test score you want to send per section. Meaning that suppose you did 10 different ACTs with different scores you have the privilege to choose the one with the highest score. This is completely impossible with SAT, where you will be required to send all the tests you did and then the school will apply the superscore policy by themselves.
So, in your best interest, you should take your SAT and A multiple times and see the one closer or higher than the required minimum which is 27.
Admission Requirements
There are some specific documents that the admission selection committee and board of trustees require you to submit to them as an applicant. These are what they need from you simplified and put into a table. You should ensure to submit them while applying as they are very important and cements your application process with the hope of being granted the admission you desire.
The compulsory ones are the ones you must submit and they are indicated with a “yes” under the required column. While the non-compulsory/optional ones are the ones indicated as “yes” under the recommended column.
