If a student borrows from any of the programs listed below, loan fees will be added to the cost of education. The maximum amount will be the loan amount multiplied by the fee percentage charges. Loan origination fees are variable depending on federal funding uncertainties.

Extended Study / Registration Fee:

Students who pay full tuition for four years in a row will also be charged a $725 registration fee for their fifth year.

The registration cost for the fourth and fifth chronological years is $362.50 for students who split tuition between these years.

For dual enrollment students, tuition is assessed by the institution you are enrolled in for a specific semester.

Yale University School of Medicine Admission and Requirements

Apply to Yale via AMCAS

To apply to Yale School of Medicine, submit the AMCAS (American Medical College Application Service) application. The application will be forwarded to each medical institution to which you apply. It is available on the AAMC Students, Applicants, and Residents website.

You must specify on the AMCAS application that you intend to apply to Yale School of Medicine. You will be invited to make a secondary application to Yale after submitting your AMCAS application.

Submit Yale’s Secondary Application

In addition to their AMCAS application, candidates for the MD and MD/PhD programs additionally need to submit an online Yale Secondary Application.

After completing the AMCAS application, all applicants will receive an email inviting them to submit a Yale Secondary Application.

This email invitation should arrive within two weeks of completing the AMCAS application to Yale, starting in early July, when the Yale Secondary Application becomes available.

Submit letters of recommendation

A Premedical Committee letter is recommended for all MD and MD/PhD candidates. Individuals who can assess your research potential as a physician-scientist should write letters of recommendation. One letter should come from your most recent study mentor.

A complete application consists of the following components:

  1. AMCAS application and all required components of the application.
  2. Complete official transcripts from all colleges attended. Transcripts should be sent from the colleges directly to AMCAS.
  3. Yale Supplemental Application submitted online no later than November 15.
  4. An evaluation from the applicant’s Premedical Advisory Committee or individual letters from three of the applicant’s instructors, two of whom should be in science fields. These evaluations must be sent to the Office of Admissions via AMCAS Letter Service.
  5. Scores from the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) must be submitted in conjunction with the AMCAS application. Scores of tests taken earlier than three years prior to submitting an application will not be accepted.
  6. A fee of $110 or an AMCAS fee waiver must accompany the Yale Supplemental Application. The fee is not refundable.
