By submitting your application sooner, you help the school gather the data they need to decide whether to admit you while also giving yourself more time to decide which program is right for you.

  • Secondary Applications sent to every applicant with a verified AMCAS® (June – November 1)
  • Mid-July: Begin reviewing completed applications
August
  • August 2: Early Decision AMCAS® application deadline
  • August 31: Early Decision deadline for secondary application, MCAT scores, and letters of recommendations
  • Late August: Initial interview offers sent
September
  • Mid-September: Interviews begin
  • Admissions Committee meetings begin
  • The last MCAT date we accept for the current cycle is September 30
October 
  • October 15: First Admissions Committee decisions released
November
  • November 1: UMSOM deadline for AMCAS® applications
December
  • December 1: UMSOM deadline for secondary applications
January
  • Late January: Complete holistic review of all completed applications
February
  • February 19: AMCAS® Choose Your Medical School Tool “Plan to Enroll” option becomes available
  • Late February: Complete interview season
March
  • Late March: Final committee meetings and decisions
April
  • April 15: Admitted applicants narrow to three medical schools through AMCAS® Choose Your Medical School Tool
  • April 30: All UMSOM applicants must select “Plan to Enroll” (last day UMSOM accepted students may hold multiple acceptances)
May
  • May 2 – June 15: UMSOM highly recommends that decided students use the “Commit to Enroll” option on AMCAS® Choose Your Medical School Tool
Summer
  • June 15: UMSOM requires “Commit to Enroll” on AMCAS® (final day to select “Commit to Enroll”)
  • July 31: First day of Orientation
