1. Northern New Mexico College

This college was originally established as a Teacher Training College, in 1909. The institution today has over a thousand enrollees from all over the nation.

NNMC offers a wide variety of accredited programs on-campus and online through BlackBoard. Prospective students are required to submit COMPASS, SAT, or ACT test scores in order to be considered for admission.

Prospective students who are interested in pursuing practical careers are welcome to enroll in the technical certificate program which offers courses like administrative assistant and radiation protection.

NNMC offers associate programs in renewable energy, crime, and justice studies, allied health, etc. The college also offers courses for RNs who want to earn bachelor’s degrees through their accelerated programs. Students can earn a bachelor’s degree in courses like biology, environmental science, and education.

Northern’s bachelor of business administration program is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Business Schools and Programs.

2. New Mexico State University

New Mexico State University was founded in 1888,  it is the oldest public higher institution in New Mexico state.

About 22,000 students are enrolled in the college’s campus in Las Cruces and across four satellite locations. Applicants are required to have a minimum 2.75 GPA and adequate ACT/SAT results in order to be considered for admission.

Transfer students are required to have at least 30 credits earned with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students of this college are offered financial aid opportunities, one of these financial aid opportunities is President’s Associates Excellence Scholarship for high-achieving in-state students.

NMSU offers over 175 undergraduate and graduate programs including horticulture, fashion merchandising and design, engineering technology, and agricultural biology for bachelor’s degree programs. Students may also pursue a bachelor of computer science, focusing their studies on areas like cybersecurity and software development.

Graduate students can pursue a master’s in traditional master’s programs in criminal justice, molecular biology, and public administration. Students can also pursue online education delivered through Canvas, there are 14 graduate options available which include nursing administration and social work.

3. University of the Southwest

The University of the Southwest was founded in 1962 as a Baptist junior college, today, this institution delivers interdenominational education to over 1,000 students every semester.

Applicants for the bachelor’s degree program are required to have a minimum 2.0 GPA, ranking in the top 50% of their high school class, and a minimum of 940 or 18 on the SAT or ACT.

Tuition for both in-state and out-of-state students is the same amount. Learners may apply for funded scholarships if they possess a GPA of at least 3.0.

USW offers about 50 bachelors and 15 graduate programs. Undergraduate programs in areas like early childhood education, psychology, Christian studies, and healthcare management.

4. Eastern New Mexico University

Eastern New Mexico University is the largest regional, comprehensive, postsecondary school in the state. About 5,700 students in more than 60 associate, bachelor’s, and master’s programs. Learners can earn their certificate through traditional on-campus learners or flexible evening programs and online classes, the online classes are offered through Blackboard.

Students can pursue associate certificates in psychology, agriculture, and culinary arts. Students who are undecided about majors they want to pursue students can enroll in a general studies track, and complete core requirements before pursuing a transfer.

Bachelor’s degree students can pick from programs like sports and recreation management, financial planning, and cultural anthropology, forensic science,  the forensic science program comes in three areas of concentration. Master’s degree programs are available in pedagogy and educational technology.

Applicants for the undergraduate program must submit an official form, academic transcripts, and ACT/SAT scores. In-state and out-of-state students pay tuition based on their residents and financial aid opportunities are offered to out-of-state students.

5. University of New Mexico 

The University of New Mexico is located in Albuquerque and has over  24,000 enrolled students. Applicants are required to submit official applications, ACT or SAT scores, and High School transcripts. Transfer students are required to have at least a 2.0 GPA in order to be considered for admission into this college.

Criteria for potential graduate students vary by program, but the general criterion is for an applicant to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
