Goldey-Beacom College was originally established as Wilmington Commercial College in 1886 with five only students. Today, Goldey-Beacom College hosts about 2,000 full-time and part-time students from its campus east of Wilmington.

Goldey-Beacom College offers 41 career-specific bachelor’s, master’s, and associate degrees in fields such as communication, taxation, and accounting.

 Wilmington University is a private school that educates more than 20,000 students. Wilmington University offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels through flexible day, evening, weekend, and hybrid classes.

Wilmington University operates several additional sites in locations in Dover and on the Dover Air Force Base in addition to its main campus near Wilmington. The school does not provide accommodation, so most of its students are commuter students.

Wesley undergraduates are required to fulfill core requirements and can select from 25 programs. Wesley offers graduate programs including master’s degrees in environmental science, business, education, nursing, and occupational therapy. They also offer online degrees in sport leadership and criminal justice.
